In October we will have a rally to Koh Samet. Here are the details :
KOH SAMET RALLY - 23-26 OCTOBER, 2008
Sailing and Motor Yachts
We are planning to organize the 1st Koh Samet Rally during 23 to 26 October. The island of Koh Samet is a well-known resort island east of Rayong and a cruise there via Koh Samaesan covers a very attractive cruising area close to Ocean Marina.
This 4 day cruise starts on Chulalongkorn Day, Thursday 23rd October, and finishes on Sunday 26th October. Unfortunately the Friday 24th October is not a Thai holiday, but we still hope all of you have worked hard enough during the year to deserve to take a day off for cruising.
The plan is to leave OMYC around n oon on Thursday to go to Koh Samaesan (about 20 nm) for overnighting. And depending on the wind direction, we can find a nice seafood restaurant to have dinner together.
On the Friday, we shall proceed on the 30 nm leg to Koh Samet where we plan to spend another nice evening together.
For the Saturday, we have the option of either staying another night at Koh Samet, or return to Koh Samaesan, depending on the preferences of the sailors.
There are excellent anchorages both at Koh Samaesan and Koh Samet irrespective of wind direction.
We hope that not only sailing boats but also power yachts wi ll join us.
Furthermore, a contingency of beach catamarans from Royal Varuna Yacht Club is planning support the event.
